Are you looking for a new hobby?  Wind down after a hectic week, learning to sew , it is relaxing and  very rewarding!  This is our best selling course.

The absolute beginner class is a path onto all sorts of different exciting sewing/dressmaking or crafting projects, we love to show you the basics, take home  your finished projects you are sure to be very proud of.

Skill Level - No Sewing machine, fabric or pattern cutting experience needed.
Setting up your  sewing machine, learn all the basic stitches, reverse, using a pattern make an envelope cushion (cushion pad is included in class) Make a reversible Tote bag, introduction to dressmaking, make PJ shorts. 

All patterns are provided in class and you can take them away to make lots more at home, handmade gifts for your family and friends.

You can borrow a sewing machine(if you do not own one yet) at no extra costs.

Sewing machines are available to borrow free of charge.

Our best selling course!  We love nothing more than introducing people to the wonderful world of sewing.
This course is for complete beginners for one parent and one child, even if you have never used a sewing machine before, learning together will be so much fun, this course will give you the confidence to work and progress onto lots of different sewing projects.
6 Students per class  (Three couples)
Tutor - Tamsin Whitmore and Gillian Cockley
All patterns are included in each class and a cushion pad is included for your cushions.
A list of items needed for each class will be sent to you 3 weeks beforehand.
What you will learn:
Set up your machine
Thread machine and wind bobbin properly, check straight stitch and zigzag, stitch tension is correct, practice your stitches and how to reverse. learn how to Pin  patterns to fabric, cut out accurately,  learn how to make a cushion and reversible Tote bag from scratch.

You will take home a cushion and a Tote bag each.

Level 2 Sewing

2 x week course, Sunday 10-2/3pm  March 24th and April 7th (miss a week due to mothers day) ONE SPACE

£90 per person, £40 deposit required.

Sewing machines are available to borrow free of charge.
Skill level - This course is for beginners who have a few sewing projects behind them, you can thread and use a sewing machine with confidence or you will have completed our level 1 beginner sewing course.
All patterns are included in each class, you can take them home to keep to complete more homemade wonderful gifts for others, spread your sewing love around!
You will learn a huge amount of skill during this course, you wil be making a bespoke Tote handbag with a zip closure and buttonholes, learn how to make piping and sew piping into the bag straps, a zipped makeup bag with pockets.

Level 1 Dressmaking

An excellent progression  from level 1 beginner sewing
OR
You must be able to thread and use your machine with confidence, pin and cut fabric.

NO Dressmaking experience required.
Stevie has a modern, boxy fit, with round neckline and kimono sleeves, closing at the back with pretty ties or button loop. This dress can be shortened or lengthened to suit, above-the-knee, on-the-knee, below-the-knee, with optional turn-up cuffs and patch pocket. Throw it on with a statement necklace and you're good to go!
At the end of your course you will have your Lovely bespoke Tunic dress to show off  handmade by you!
Depending on the class pace the last week may run past 2pm at no extra cost.

One of our most popular patterns, oh so comfortable to wear. Make it dungaree-style with buckles or as a pinafore with buttons, with mini- or knee-length hem, optional centre front split, choice of patch pockets and contrast topstitching.

This flirty button-down dress is perfect for picnics in the park or cocktails under the stars. Choose from a pretty neckline flounce or tie-front bodice, with knee-length or midi hemline. Seren has bust darts, wide shoulder straps, a separate waistband for a flattering fit, flowing into a seventies-inspired A-line skirt. Just add Wedge sandals and a sunhat!

Level 1 beginner free motion embroidery

The joys of free motion embroidery,  machine stitching with your feed dogs down and an embroidery/darning foot on means exactly that FREE to be as creative as you dare.

You can use you normal domestic sewing machine, no special fancy machines needed.

Skill level - You must be able to thread and use a sewing machine,  NO free motion embroidery experience needed.
Experimenting is exciting, drawing with stitch takes practice and takes a little courage for first timers. Start with a blank piece of fabric and doodle; continuous lines, swirls, circles, curves, zig zags, this will loosen you up, then move onto a picture creation.

Are you still a little scared of your overlocker?  let's get to know it a bit more.
Get to know your overlocker a bit more class.

Let's gain more experience together whilst, making a versatile Jumper.
You will take home a finished overlocked jumper.
Skill level - You will have a few simple dressmaking project behind you or you will have completed our beginner overlocker class.  You will need to bring your own overlocker machine.

Level 1 Quilting

2 week evening course 6.30pm-8.30pm March 28th and April 4th
£40 per person, £20 deposit required on booking.

Would you love to learn the art of quilting?  Making the large quilted patchwork  cushion cover, during the workshop you will learn all of the stages and skills required to turn patchwork into a quilt while working on a more manageable project. You can then use the skills learned to make a full sized quilt, we would love you to join our level 2 quilting course.
You will learn:

How to arrange your fabric squares and design your cushion front.
How to stitch your patchwork together, then back it with wadding.
How to quilt using straight stitch and stitch in the ditch
How to cut out your cushion backs, sew binding, sew your cushion together.

Skill level -You should already know how to thread and use a sewing machine.  No patch work or quilting experience required.

Learn how to make fully lined curtain sample. You will learn how to measure the window correctly, square off the fabric, add the lining  and attach the header tape.You will make a sample  curtain in this class and have instuctions to take away with you.

Skill Level – You will be able to use your sewing machine with confidence and have several dressmaking projects behind you or you will have completed our level 2 or 3 dressmaking course.
