Are you looking for a new hobby?  Wind down after a hectic week, learning to sew , it is relaxing and  very rewarding!  This is our best selling course.

The absolute beginner class is a path onto all sorts of different exciting sewing/dressmaking or crafting projects, we love to show you the basics, take home with your finished projects you are sure to be very proud of.

Skill Level - No Sewing machine, fabric or pattern cutting experience needed.
Setting up your  sewing machine, learn all the basic stitches, reverse, using a pattern make an envelope cushion (cushion pad is included in class) Make a reversible Tote bag, introduction to dressmaking, make PJ shorts. 

All patterns are provided in class and you can take them away to make lots more at home, handmade gifts for your family and friends.

Level 1 Dressmaking

Beginners Dressmaking, Level 1, 3 week course

Sunday 10am-1pm July 8th, 15th, 22nd.
An excellent progression  from level 1 beginner sewing
OR
You must be able to thread and use your machine with confidence, pin and cut fabric.

NO Dressmaking experience required.
Learn how to take your correct body measurements,  follow a pattern, adjust your pattern to fit your body, Cut your fabric correctly, finishing seams, add pockets, attaching a waistband with a tie, hems and much more.
At the end of your course you will have your Lovely bespoke skirt to show off  handmade by you!
Depending on the class pace the last week may run past 1pm at no extra cost.

Jelly rolls are a fab little product that can be used in a wide range of projects. Longer and thinner than fat quarters, they are ideal for quilting projects of all kinds!
I find jelly rolls an essential and versatile addition – using them either on their own, or combined, as many come in complementary colour ways and designs.
 The Jelly roll and free motion embroidered quilted pillow will look great in any girl or boys bedroom.
Skill level – You will have some sewing experience behind you (ideally you will have completed the level 1 sewing or level 1 free motion embroidery class or the level 1 quilting class).

Skill Level - You must be able to use a sewing machine with confidence. 

No free motion embroidery applique experience required.

Learn the art of applique and free motion machine embroidery, at the end of your class you will take home a stunning unique framed picture.

Experimenting is exciting, drawing with stitch takes practice and takes a little courage for first timers. Start with a blank piece of fabric and doodle; continuous lines, swirls, circles, curves, this will loosen you up, then move onto a picture creation. 


 

Level 1 beginner free motion embroidery

The joys of free motion embroidery,  machine stitching with your feed dogs down and an embroidery/darning foot on means exactly that FREE to be as creative as you dare.

Glorious Cushions 2 week course

MAKE YOUR OWN UNIQUE cushions with us in your own fabric choice and your own cushion styles.
This course is ideal for those with some sewing skills who want to learn how to make their own professional looking cushions. Accuracy is very important when making beautiful cushions and in this workshop, you will make a rectangle double backed envelope cushion with buttonholes and self-covered buttons, a piped bolster cushion with a zip and a fringed cushion with an overlap zip.

Skill level - You must be able to use your sewing machine with confidence.

Using the correct sewing machine feet and settings, You will learn how to buttonhole, cover your own buttons, cut and join piping, add and finish off a fringe into seams and insert zips.

We will also discuss the various types of cushion styles and fillings that can be used, and how to use a patterned fabric to the best advantage on the cushion.

 

Level 1 Quilting

Level 1 beginner quilting 'A Patchwork quilted cushion'
2 x week evening course
Tuesday 17th and 24th April 6.30pm-9pm

Would you love to learn the art of quilting?  Making the quilted patchwork envelope cushion cover during the workshop allows you to learn all of the stages and skills required to turn patchwork into a quilt while working on a more manageable project. You can then use the skills learned to make a full sized quilt, we would love you to join our level 2 quilting course.
You will learn:

How to arrange your fabric squares and design your cushion front.
How to stitch your patchwork together, then back it with wadding.
How to quilt using straight stitch and stitch in the ditch
How to cut out your cushion backs, binding and labelling, sew your cushion together.

Skill level -You should already know how to thread and use a sewing machine.

 

 

 

Level 2 Sewing

Confident Beginner level 2 sewing, 2 week course.

All patterns and a cushion insert pad are included.
Make a scatter cushion with piping and a zip enclosure, make  Faux leather washbag, lined and with a zip, make a wrist pin cushion.  Your patterns are to take home  for you to make lots more, handmade gifts for your family and friends.

Level 2 beginner Dressmaking

The must have Dress 3 week course.
Cambridge Sewing Studio, Oakington. Cambridge  £120.00 per person.

 The Zoe Dress is a semi-fitted shift with beautiful, unusual design lines. It features princess seams at the front and back, which gently sculpt the dress to your body, and a french dart to fit the dress at the bust.  With no waist seam, the long princess lines elongate the body to create a flattering silhouette, gently bringing you in at the waist. Darts at the back neckline fit the dress to your shoulders to eliminate gape, and a facing finishes the neckline beautifully.
Skill level - Confident beginner, you will have a simple garment project behind you OR you will have taken our level 1 beginner sewing or level 1 beginner dressmaking course.

The Dress sewing pattern is a confident beginner level 2,  it is ideal for anyone who has sewn a simple sewing projects before  and would  like to learn some dressmaking skills . Made up of panels, this dress is the perfect pattern to get to grips with fitting. The princess seams and darts, pockets and concealed zip is excellent progress from a beginner project.

 

 

Level 2 Quilting
A Lap Quilt or a Baby Quilt Level 2 Quilting.
6 week evening course

You will learn: Layout and fabric choice, Piecing, adding a border, stitch in the ditch, basic information to free-motion quilting, squaring up and sewing the border, binding, labelling, finishing the quilt.
Skill Level - You will need to be confident with your sewing machine and have a few basic sewing projects behind you.
 
 
 

Roman Blinds

Roman Blind Making 2 week Course

Saturday 30th June and 7th July 10am-2/3pm
SIX SPACES

Roman blinds with Siobhan - £90.00 per person, £40.00 deposit required.
Learn how to make professional roman blinds.

You will learn how to measure the window correctly, square off the fabric, fully line the blinds, attach the necessary parts to make the blind functional and how to fit it to the window.
On this course you will make a sample blind to take away with you as well as a detailed handout.

Skill Level - We will expect you to be able to use a sewing machine, sew and cut confidently (ideally be at same level as someone who has completed the Level 1 sewing course).

 

Curtain Day

Curtains Workshop

Some sewing machine experience required.
Learn how to make fully lined curtain sample. You will learn how to measure the window correctly, square off the fabric, add the lining  and attach the header tape.You will make a sample  curtain in this class and have instuctions to take away with you.

 

 

 

Level 3 Dressmaking

Bespoke made to measure Classic Casual Coat
Dressmaking 2 week Saturday course

Cambridge Sewing studio, Oakington, Cambridge.
£90.00 per person, £40.00 deposit required.

Winters wardrobe must have is a Classy casual coat, 3/4 length sleeves, curved hem line, crossover front detail, its a warm but light weight throw-on to get you in the mood for those chilly days.
Once you have booked your place Body and height measurements are required(details will be sent to you), your made to measure pattern will be ready for you in class one, your pattern will be yours to take home after the course has finished for you to make lots more, you will be surprised how many different looks you can achieve using different fabrics. The pattern making costs are within the £90 fee.

You will pin and cut out your fabric correctly, attach pockets, attach sleeves, darts, facings, bound seams and hemming using your machine blind hem stitch.
